COLLEGE ENTRANCE AWARDS (Eight $2,000 Awards)
Who
Can Apply
Applicants
must be in their final year of high school and must enroll this
September in an Ontario Community College in a diploma program (minimum
two-years) in one of the following areas of study:

Culinary
• Food and Beverage
• Hotel

Hospitality
• Tourism
• Resort |
Applicants
must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. |

How To Apply |
Complete
the application form legibly and send to the Ontario Hostelry Institute
along with the following documents. Missing or incomplete documents
may be grounds for elimination:
- Transcripts:
a) final-year transcripts from previous academic year; b) report
card (first semester first term) from current year
- Resume
- One
or more letters of recommendation from your school principal,
guidance counselor or teacher
- One
or more letters of recommendation from past or present employers;
reference letter/s for volunteer activities will also be considered
Employer
and school letters must include telephone numbers and where possible
e-mail addresses. The Institute reserves the right to check all
references. FAXED applications are NOT accepted

The
Judging Criteria
Applications
are judged on work experience, extracurricular activities, academic
record and letters of recommendation. Equal weighting is given to
each of the judging criteria.
An independent panel of judges appointed by the Institute will review
the applications and decide on the award recipients. |
Payment
of Award Money
The
award money will be paid in two equal installments. The first
payments of $1,000 will be made by mid-November of the year the
award is received and the second $1,000 in November of the following
year. The Institute will seek confirmation of full-time enrollment
from the college before each payment is made. Payment will be sent
directly to the college for credit toward the student’s tuition
fees. If the fees have been paid in full, the money is to be given
to the recipient by the college. |
Deadline
Applications
must be received by the Ontario Hostelry Institute no later than
Monday, April 30, 2007. Applications received after that
date will not be eligible. Names of the award recipients will be
posted onthe Institute’s website www.ohischolarships.com
by the end of June 2007. |
