BACHELOR OF APPLIED DEGREE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT AWARD


Who Can Apply
Third and fourth year students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Business in Hospitality Operations Management program at George Brown College and Niagara College may apply for the $5,000 award.
 
Applicants must not have received any other Ontario Hostelry Institute Award and must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

N.B. The Canadian Hospitality Foundation offers a $2,500 John Rothschild, Prime Restaurants Scholarship to first and second-year students in a hospitality applied degree program anywhere in Canada. For more information go to www.chfscholarships.com.

How to Apply
Complete the application form legibly and submit to the Ontario Hostelry Institute. The form must be accompanied by the following and missing or incomplete documents may be grounds for elimination.
  • Most current transcripts of your complete academic
  • history at the college you are currently enrolled in
  • Resumé
  • One or more letters of recommendation from a current instructor or
    school administrator
  • One or more letters of reference from a current or past employer or
    coordinator supervising your extracurricular/volunteer activities
  • A 500 to 600 word essay (see application form for essay topics)
Reference letters must include telephone numbers and/or email addresses. The Institute reserves the right to check all references. FAXED applications are NOT accepted.

The Judging Criteria
Applications are reviewed by an independent panel of judges appointed by the Institute and will be judged on the following criteria: academic record, work experience, essay, extracurricular/volunteer activities and letters of reference.

Payment
Full payment of the award money will be made to the college by mid-November of the year the award is given out. If there are no outstanding tuition fees, the money will be paid to the award recipient by the college. An applicant in third year must register full-time for the fourth year to receive the award money. An applicant in fourth year must graduate in order to receive the award money

Deadline
Applications must be received by the Institute no later than Monday, April 30, 2007. Applications received after this date will not be eligible. Names of award recipients will be posted on www.ohischolarships.com by the end of June 2007..
